At times relationships can be particularly challenging. Perhaps you feel like you and your partner are constantly talking past each other, either misunderstanding each other or maybe not listening to each other at all. You may feel disconnected from your partner, no longer feeling supported and loved in your relationship. Perhaps you have begun to find trusting your partner difficult. Intimacy may have decreased and you may feel like roommates, no longer passionate about one another.
In therapy I can work with you as a couple to reconnect and reignite loving feelings. Your relationship can become stronger and you can learn to grow together as a couple. I work with couples to build a relationship based on equality, friendship, and mutual respect. In healthy relationships both partners feel loved and supported and therapy can help you learn skills to be able to provide this space for each other.
Building a solid foundation
Premarital counseling is a way you can prepare for your marriage, helping to ensure you have a deep understanding of each other and the skills to make your marriage healthy and strong. By taking a broad look at the common areas where couples struggle in their relationship, you can be more prepared and have a solid plan in place from the beginning. I am a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator. The advantages of this program include its strong assessment focus and skill building exercises across a variety of domains. I also offer premarital counseling outside of Prepare/Enrich if couples prefer.
